Transfer of insurance to Poland / family registration - S1
If you work in Norway and would like to insure yourself or your family in Poland, you should obtain an S1 document. It provides full healthcare coverage for you and your family during your stay in Poland or another EU country - useful if you regularly travel from Norway to Poland or another EU country.
To be able to apply for an S1 document, we must pay social insurance contributions in Norway - that is, work here, run a business, or receive, for example, unemployment benefit (dagpenger) or sickness benefit (sykepenger).
The S1 document has a validity period and normally expires when our employment contract ends. After the expiry date, we should apply for the document again.
What does the service include?
The service includes:
- a telephone consultation regarding the document
- completion of the application to Helfo for the issue of S1
- information about the next steps
- assistance if there are problems obtaining the document
NOTE: The decision on whether the document is granted is made by Helfo in Norway. The service only covers liaison between you and the authority.

To complete the application, we will need from you:
- a copy of your identity document
- an employment contract or other document confirming membership of the Norwegian social insurance system
