Poland–Sweden ferry no longer means quarantine in Norway – new interpretation

⚠️ POLAND – SWEDEN FERRY? NO MORE QUARANTINE IN NORWAY – NEW INTERPRETATION ⚠️

Norway set out rules under which there was a fairly clear view that a Poland–Sweden ferry would trigger quarantine as use of public transport in a red country. For many of you this was absurd and, fortunately, today HelseNorge has issued a new interpretation after consulting lawyers.

⚠️ POLAND – NORWAY JOURNEY BY FERRY EN ROUTE
One of our readers asked HelseNorge, the body responsible for interpreting the rules, for clarification. The interpretation she received is as follows:

In free translation, this means that people who travel from a green country by car and take a ferry from there to a red country, and then continue the journey by car, are travelling safely. In other words, they are not subject to quarantine and can enter Norway as tourists in this way.

⚠️ SO HOW CAN YOU REACH NORWAY WITHOUT QUARANTINE/AS A TOURIST?
This means that Norway can be reached safely in the following ways:
1. By direct flight (without stopovers in red areas)
2. By car overland
3. By car overland with ferries departing from Poland
The interpretation still does not change for other methods, meaning the journey will be unsafe if:
1. We take the Denmark/Germany–Norway ferry (a ferry from a red country is considered unsafe).
2. We use public transport other than those listed above
3. We stay overnight in a red area (of course, this does not mean an isolated overnight stay in our own car)

⚠️ ONLY THE INTERPRETATION HAS CHANGED, NOT THE RULES
This means that, in theory, if you were quarantined or were not allowed into Norway because of such a ferry journey, you have the right to compensation.
