Transferring insurance to Poland/family registration – S1

If you work in Norway and would like to insure yourself or your family in Poland, you should obtain an S1 document. It provides full health care for you and your family during your stay in Poland or another EU NOC - useful if you constantly travel from Norway to Poland or another EU NOKA.

To be able to apply for an S1 document, we must pay social security contributions in Norway - that is, work here, run a business or receive, for example, unemployment benefits (dagpenger) or sickness benefits (sykepener).

The S1 document has a validity period and normally ends when our employment contract ends. After the expiry date, we should apply for the document again.

What does the service include?

The service includes:

• telephone contact regarding the document
• completing an application to Helfo for an S1
• information about the further procedure
• assistance in case of problems with obtaining a document

WARNING: The decision regarding the granting of the document rests with Helfo in Norway. The service only covers mediation between you and the office.

Required documents

To complete the application, we will need from you:

• a copy of your ID card
• employment contract or other document confirming membership in the Norwegian social security system
