If you've been in Norway for a while, you're probably familiar with the concept tax residence. If you know your tax residence, you can skip this step and go to the next one. However, if you are not sure about your tax residence, let us explain:

This statement is not true, because tax residence depends on many factors, such as the place of residence of our immediate family (wife, immediate children), place of work or owning a house. While time spent beyond 183 days matters, it is not the only key element, and it is possible that you still have tax residence in Poland while staying in Norway all year round.
If you would like to find out where exactly your tax residence is locatedwhat deductions are beneficial for you and how to settle your accounts in both NOKAs in the most favorable way, we kindly invite you to use tax consultation with one of our accountants (click).

- "Skatt du må betale (restskatt)” – unfortunately, you do surcharge. The amount on the right is how much you will have to pay back.
But be careful - all this may change! Both for better and for worse. Therefore, it is important to settle your accounts with a good accountant who knows all the rules and deductions - it could be us!
Private tax settlement with Efremtid.no
In 2023 alone, we settled over 1000 people. At one point we were forced to close the settlement ordering option because there were too many people willing, for which we were not prepared and we ran out of processing capacity.
This year we have expanded our team, but there is still no need to wait – if you receive a skattemelding, order one of the services from the section "Tax settlement for 2023" here (click) and let's start working!
What if I accept skattemelding? When will I receive my refund from Norway?
If you sent your completed skattemelding to the office, accepted the office's proposal, or everything was OK and you did nothing, you have peace of mind for some time. However, soon after accepting skattemelding, you will soon receive a sketteoppgjør from the office, i.e. a full annual tax settlement.
The moment you receive your skatteopgjør remains completely random (usually within a few months). Whereas:
- If we expect return, we can expect it within 3 weeks from receiving skatteoppgjør.
- If we should pay extra, you will receive the exact payment amount and deadline on two invoices. There you will also find the KID number for payment and bank account number.
All this information should be included in detail on the document you receive.
